Scholarship Calf Raffle Tickets Available NOW!

Madison, WI --Every year, the Red and White Dairy Cattle Association presents 3-$1,000 scholarships to deserving members continuing their education to pursue careers in the dairy industry. 

 

Funds are raised through an annual Scholarship Calf Raffle.  This years raffle winner will be selected at on Friday, October 5th at World Dairy Expo, Madison, WI.  The calf will be on display during the week of World Dairy Expo in the Scenic Edge Display, in the New Holland Pavilions and will be available to go home with it’s new owner on Saturday, October 6th

 

This year’s calf is generously donated by Luck-E Holsteins, The Engel Family, Hampshire, IL.  The stylish, March 2018 calf, Luck-E Devour Katilina-Red, is sired by Mr Danielle Devour-ET.  Katlina’s dam is Luck-E Beemer Katalina-ET VG-85.  The second dam of the raffle calf is Luck-E Advent Kandie-Red-ET  EX-95.  Kandie was named the Unanimous All American & Red & White Cow of the Year in 2014. 

 

Raffle tickets are available now until the time of the raffle and will be available at the RWDCA booth at both the All American Dairy Show, Harrisburg, PA and World Dairy Expo, Madison, WI.  They are $5 each or 3/$10.  The tickets are also available from the RWDCA Office, any RWDCA Board of Directors member, Gary Janssen or Dana Erway. 

 

 

The Red and White Dairy Cattle Association Scholarship fund is a 501C3 account and a tax deductible  contribution.

54th RWDCA Convention Held in Illinois!

Red & White Enthusiasts gathered to St Charles, Illinois on June 19th and 20th for the 54th Annual Red & White Dairy Cattle Association National Convention.  

Convention goers attended farm tours at Luck-E Holsteins and Lenkaitis Holsteins.  

Many award winners were announced at the Annual Banquet.  Recognized for 25 years of RWDCA Membership were: Alvin & Barbara Kayser, Milton, WI; Morrill Farm Dairy, Penacook, NH; Brian Derr, Gettysburg, PA; Dennis McCoy, Convoy, OH and Daniel & Mark, Wollum, Mondovi, WI.  David Gregory, Harvard, IL; Pennsylvania Holsteins Association, State College, PA; Merkenal Farm, Little Falls, NY were all recognized as 40 year members of the Association.  

Kaleb Kruse, Dyersville, IA; Katie Thompson, Plainview, MN and Sarah Thomas, Pittsboro, NC each received a $1,000 RWDCA Scholarship. 

Hannah Hensel and Cathryn Gunst, both of Wisconsin, were winners in the Junior Essay Contest.  Cathryn Gunst also submitted the winning entry in the photo contest.  Both the essay and photo contest winners will be published in the issue of The Red Bloodlines, The Official Publication of the RWDCA.  

Hannah Nelson, Ellsworth, WI, was crowned the 2018 National RWDCA Queen.  

Several Service awards were presented.  

Doug Lyons, Castalia, IA, was awarded the Larry Moore Master Breeder Award.  The award is presented to a person who is a member of the RWDCA, who has done an outstanding job of breeding a herd of Red & White cattle, supported RWDCA programs and endeavored to promote and advance the Red & White cow.

Matt & Joe Engel, Luck-E Holsteins, Hampshire, IL were awarded the JP 'Doc' Ostrander Younger Breeder Award.  This award is presented to a younger breeder who is a member of the RWDCA, who has done an outstanding job of breeding a herd of Red & White cattle, supported RWDCA programs and endeavored to promote and advance the Red & White Cow.

Morgan Olbrich, Harvard, IL, was presented with the Junior Breeder Award, awarded to a person who is a member of the RWDCA, who has done an outstanding job of breeding and developing a herd of Red & White cattle, supported RWDCA programs and endeavored to promote and advance the Red & White cow. Recipient must be no more than 21 years of age. 

The Don Albrecht Distinguished Service Award was presented to Barb Kayser, Milton, WI.  This service award is presented to a person that has contributed greatly to the success and promotion of the Red & White cow. Award in memory of Don Albrecht who contributed greatly to the betterment of the RWDCA until his untimely death. 

The Gary Mayhew Keystone Award was awarded to Mary Etta Lenkaitis, St Charles, IL. Awarded in memory of Gary Mayhew who strongly promoted Red & Whites and provided service to the RWDCA and RWDCA members.  This award is presented to recognize grassroots members who have given dedicated support to the Red & White breed and the RWDCA.

The evening concluded with a live auction to support the RWDCA Scholarship program.  

Gary Janssen, Wauconda, IL was honored as a retiring Board member and President.  The RWDCA welcomes, Ryan Griffin, Thief River Falls, MN as it's newest member of the Board of Directors.  

Planning and coordinating this convention was the team of Mary Etta & Sarah Lenkaitis and Gary Janssen.  Events like this are not possible with out the generous support of our sponsors, Golden Oaks Farm, ST Genetics, GEA Farm Technologies and Prairie State Select Sires.  

The Wisconsin Red and White Dairy Cattle Association will host the 55th Annual Convention in June, 2019 in Fond du Lac, WI.

RWDCA Seeks Annual Award Nominations


The Red and White Dairy Cattle Association is currently seeking nominations for the annual awards presented at the National Red & White Convention.  The Convention will be held in St Charles, IL on June 19-20, 2018.  For more information on the convention please see www.RedandWhiteCattle.com
 
Nominees are sought for the following awards:
 
Larry Moore Master Breeder Award: Presented to a person who is a member of the RWDCA, who has done an outstanding job of breeding a herd of Red & White cattle, supported RWDCA programs and endeavored to promote and advance the Red & White cow.
 
J.P. ‘Doc’ Ostrander Young Breeder Award: Presented to a person who is a member of the RWDCA, who has done an outstanding job of breeding a herd of Red & White cattle, supported RWDCA programs and endeavored to promote and advance the Red & White Cow. 
 
Junior Breeder Award: Presented to a person who is a member of the RWDCA, who has done an outstanding job of breeding and developing a herd of Red & White cattle, supported RWDCA programs and endeavored to promote and advance the Red & White cow. Recipient must be no more than 21 years of age.

2017 RWDCA Cow & Heifer of the Year Announced

 

The Red and White Dairy Cattle Association is proud to annouce the winners of the annual Cow and Heifer of the Year Contest!  Nominated and voted on by the membership of the RWDCA, winners were named in both the Open division and Junior Division.

Winning Cow of the Year in the Open Division is Meadow Green Abso Fanny-Red-ET. Fanny is owned by Triple T Holsteins, T&L Cattle Company, Mike Berry, Frank & Diane Borba and Frank & Carol Borba, North Lewisburg, OH.  The highlight of Fanny's year was topping both the International Red & White Show at World Dairy Expo, Madison, WI and the Royal Red & White Holstein Show, Toronto, Ontario, Canada.  Fanny has also been named the Unanimous All American Red & White Aged Cow.

Sweeping both the Heifer of the Year and Junior Heifer of the Year  was  MS-AOL DB Raspberry-Red-ET, bred by Jason Tooley & Lucy Stockwell and exhibited by Jaydn Kimball, Windham, ME.  Raspberry is now owned by Jaydn, Kennedy, Caroline & Andrew Kimball.  Raspberry topped off her show season being named the Junior Champion of the International Red & White Junior Show and the Reserve Junior Champion of the International Red & White Show at World Dairy Expo, Madison, WI.  She was also named the Junior Champion of the Royal Red & White Holstein Show, Toronto, Ontario, Canada.  Raspberry has been named the All American Red & White Fall Calf and the Junior All American Red & White Fall Calf.

Winning the Junior Cow of the Year in the Junior Division is Redtag Destry Sneezy-Red.  A Four year old, Sneezy topped the International Red & White Junior Show at World Dairy Expo, Madison, WI, the Premier National Red & White Junior Show, Harrisburg, PA and the MidEast Fall Red & White Open & Junior Shows, Louisville, KY for owner Chase Savage, Union Bridge, MD. Sneezy has also been named the Unanimous Junior All American Red & White Four Year Old.
